  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will host a free Tech and Entrepreneurship Camp for area teens this summer—and Northern is hiring peer mentors to work with youth at the camp.

    The Tech and Entrepreneurship Camp, open to students entering grades 9-12 in fall 2023, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The camp will run for five weeks, starting May 30 and running through June 27, on the NSU campus.

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Speech and Debate Team made it to the national quarterfinals, with two students tying for fifth place in the nation.

    Ethan Kurtz and Jacob Swanson finished as national quarterfinalists at the Pi Kappa Delta National Speech and Debate Tournament, tying for fifth place nationwide.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will host the 68th Annual Mathematics Contest on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Barnett Center on the NSU campus.

    High school students from around the area are invited to participate in one of four divisions: Elementary Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra and Senior Math.

    Kenneth Boulton and JoAnne Barry will present a recital of music for piano four-hands at

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Thursday, March 30, 2023, will be the 40th year of the Northern South Dakota Science and Mathematics Fair, sponsored by Northern State University, 3M of Aberdeen and the Aberdeen Area Community Foundation.  

    The day starts out with approximately 50-60 judges from Aberdeen and surrounding areas judging projects and interviewing students.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony’s re-scheduled concert on Tuesday, March 21 featuring The Texas Tenors has been canceled.

    The Texas Tenors notified organizers that they would not be traveling to the event, citing weather concerns; thus, the decision was made to cancel the entire concert.  The concert will not be rescheduled.
