  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Students from the Northern State University Phi Beta Lambda Chapter/Business Club received honors at the virtual North Dakota PBL State Leadership Conference 2020.

    Northern’s PBL/Business Club is advised by Drs. Kristi Bockorny and Amber Henderson. At the virtual conference, the NSU students competed against PBL members from South Dakota and North Dakota. Below is a list of awardees and their respective events:

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – This spring, a student team from the Northern State University School of Business’ Policy and Strategy class tied for the top ranking score worldwide in a simulated competition.

    NSU students Patrick McCormack and Kue Moo, both seniors, earned a Global Top 100 ranking on the following criteria:

    • Overall Game-to-Date Score: 110.0, tied for the best overall score performance of the week, worldwide.
    • Earnings per Share: $37.27, the 13th best EPS performance of the week, worldwide.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A research project by a Northern State University student has been accepted into the Association of Leadership Educators Annual Conference.

    Ashley Meyer’s project, “Training for Middle-Level Managers: A Qualitative Study,” was accepted for the Practice and Research Posters presentation at the conference, set for July 12-15 in Nashville.

    Meyer, from Gregory, is a double major in management and marketing, with a human resource management minor.… more

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University has named Drs. Kristi Brownfield and Jon Mitchell winners of this year’s Outstanding Faculty Awards.

    This is the first year the award has included two categories. Mitchell, associate professor of biology, is the 2020 Foundation Faculty Excellence Award winner. Brownfield, assistant professor of sociology, is the 2020 Outstanding Early Career Faculty Award winner.

  • NSU Virtual Campus Town Hall Recap

    More than 150 faculty and staff tuned in for Northern State University’s Virtual Campus Town Hall on Tuesday, May 5.

    NSU President Dr. Tim Downs opened the question-and-answer session saying he’s proud of how everyone has responded to changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – An author who has traveled the country seeking stories of often forgotten Americans will deliver the Northern State University Larry and Julie Poeppel Family Common Read Lecture this fall.

    Chris Arnade will discuss “Dignity: Seeking Respect in Backrow America” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center. 

    “Dignity” includes photos and stories by Arnade, who shares tales of individuals across the U.S. struggling with issues like poverty and addiction. His fall 2020 lecture at Northern is free and open to the public. No tickets… more

  • Dear Colleagues,

    Dr. Fouberg and I have been charged with overseeing Northern State University’s Return-to-Campus Taskforce.

    The taskforce’s charge is:

    Each area shall identify safety procedures, guidelines and operating processes for resuming all university activities on campus. Each area shall also identify contingency plans should an outbreak occur on campus or in the community. All processes should follow city, county, SDBOR, State and Federal guidelines as outlined in the Appendices (listed below).
