  • Study Abroad program leads to career path for NSU student

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – For Northern State University student Demi Waldner, studying abroad was a life-changing experience—and even led to her determining her career path after college. Waldner spent a year in South Korea—her first time traveling abroad—and said it was an amazing experience. “I’d say the best part was learning both the language and the culture,” said Waldner, a junior English major.     ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Professor of History Dr. Ric Dias has published his second book, “Kaiser Steel of Fontana; Together we Build.” The book, released July 4 from The History Press, examines how industrialist Henry J. Kaiser used novel labor relations around World War II to break into and then succeed in the highly competitive steel industry. This week, Dias will be attending the Author Fair at K.O.     ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Aberdeen University/Civic Symphony invites you to a concert inspired by colors of the rainbow at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Northern State University.   • Northern State University Fall Jazz Concert set for Oct. 26

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Fall Jazz Concert will take place Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theater. The concert will feature the 2 O’Clock Jazz Band, directed by Dr. Grant Manhart, NSU professor of music.   • Visiting artist reception set for Monday, Oct. 17, in JFAC Gallery

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will host a reception for Jason Briggs, Northern’s first visiting artist of the academic year, on Monday, Oct. 17.    Briggs’ reception will be held 6:30-8 p.m. Monday in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery.   • NSU criminal justice major now offered online as well as on campus

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s criminal justice major is now offered online as well as on campus. Northern has also signed an articulation agreement allowing graduates of Southeast Technical College’s law enforcement program to complete the NSU bachelor’s degree in criminal justice online in just two years. This provides a seamless path to further education for students at STC.
