  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will hold an in-person winter commencement ceremony, open to all 2020 Northern graduates.

    Due to the altered fall schedule – with face-to-face instruction ending after Thanksgiving – the ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, in the NSU Barnett Center.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A nationally touring exhibition opens this week in Williams Library on the campus of Northern State University. 

    “Thrift Style” explores the reuse of feed sacks to make clothing and other household objects and illuminates how the “upcycling” of these bags mutually benefitted 20th-century consumers and businesses.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University School of Fine Arts will present the first ever Virtual Arts Day on Nov. 4.

    Open to all regional high school students in South Dakota and surrounding states, Virtual Arts Day will consist of art, music and theatre workshops throughout the day – all through Zoom.   • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A new master’s degree program approved for Northern State University will help fill a critical workforce need for special education teachers, especially those who educate students with visual impairments.

    Northern’s new Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) in Special Education, approved this week by the South Dakota Board of Regents, will be offered both online and on campus starting in fall 2021.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Starting in 2021, Northern State University will be a Coca-Cola campus.

    Northern has entered an agreement with Coca-Cola Bottling Company High Country for a 10-year partnership, starting next year. Northern and Coca-Cola anticipates celebrating this new partnership in January 2021.

    That means in 2021, students, employees and visitors to Northern will see vending machines with Coke products all around the NSU campus.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Theatre Program will present the play "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theatre.

    Performances will run at 7:30 p.m. nightly Oct. 22-24, and at 3 p.m. Oct 25.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is presenting Wolf Talks this fall in conjunction with the 2020 NSU Larry and Julie Poeppel Family Common Read Lecture.

    The next Wolf Talk will take place at 6:30 p.m. Oct 12 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theater. The talk, titled “Significance of Place,” will be presented by Gordon Tree Top, Standing Rock Tribal member or Hunkpapa Lakota.
