  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The fourth annual Lamont-Rhodes Lecture will be held in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center on Wednesday, March 21.

    The event begins with a breakfast buffet at 7:30 a.m., with the presentation at 8:30 a.m. This year’s speaker is Eric Snodgrass, director of undergraduate studies for the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, who will deliver the talk, “Weather Risk - Predicting Chaos.”

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Chapter/Business Club will be hosting a business attire clothing drive throughout the week of Feb. 5.

    PBL/Business Club is asking NSU faculty and staff, as well as the Aberdeen community to donate any gently used dress clothes that they no longer want to their clothing drive.

    From Feb. 5 to 9, collection boxes will be put out on the NSU campus in Lincoln Hall Room 101 and Spafford Hall Room 204.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will kick off its spring 2018 series of Noon Forums on Feb. 7 with “Careers, Computers and Creativity,” presented by Travis Kiefer in the NSU Beulah Williams Library Rotunda Room.

    Kiefer will explore the impact of computers, algorithms and robots on our community, society at large and the challenges and opportunities they present for our future.   • ABERDEEN, S.D. -  Northern State University has received the distinction of participating in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Science Education Alliance’s Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program beginning in the fall.

    This amazing opportunity will allow NSU science students to get involved in real-world research during their early semesters and participate in the science field on a national scale.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Symphonic Band, 2 O’Clock Jazz Ensemble and Dominant 7 brass ensemble will embark on a winter recruitment tour Feb. 5 to 8, throughout North Dakota and Minnesota, which will come to an end with a home concert on Feb. 11 on the NSU campus.

    The ensembles will perform concerts at St. Mary’s High School in Bismarck, N.D.; Valley City High School in Valley City, N.D.; Davies High School and Sheyenne High School in Fargo, N.D.; Chanhassen High School in Chanhassen, Minn.; and Chaska High School in Chaska, Minn.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Aberdeen University/Civic Symphony, conducted by Robert Vodnoy, will perform the second concert of its 98th season on Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater in the Johnson Fine Arts Center at NSU.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will host several events throughout the month of February celebrating Black History Month.

    The month’s festivities will kick off on Feb. 13 with “soul food” being offered in the Wolves Den dining hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in addition to the cuisine normally offered to NSU students, faculty and staff.

    On Feb.15, there will be a showing of the film “Remember the Titans” at 8 p.m. in Jerde Hall, which will be followed by an open discussion. This event is open to NSU students, faculty and staff.
