  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Symphonic Band and Concert Band will perform their “Band Extravaganza II: A Musical Smorgasbord!” concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center’s Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

    This free concert will feature a large variety of band favorites.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Danny Quinn’s senior art exhibition will be on display in the Northern State University Student Center Gallery from April 23 to May 4.

    A reception for the exhibition will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 4 in the Student Center Gallery.

    Quinn grew up in Timber Lake, graduating from Timber Lake High School in 2014. Quinn is the child of Ken and Sharon Quinn of Timber Lake.

    Displayed art in the exhibition includes graphic design work, including both corporate type design work as well as digital artwork.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Four Northern State University alumni will be honored at NSU’s first-ever spring Distinguished Alumni Banquet.

    The event will take place on May 4 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Aberdeen’s Ramkota Convention Center. One graduate from each of Northern’s four schools will receive a Distinguished Alumni Award, which are given to individuals who have distinguished themselves through personal successes and civic contributions, while bringing a sense of pride to the college community.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – An internationally known violin/piano duo will visit Northern State University on Thursday, April 12.

    The Kobayashi/Gray Duo will present a master class at 4-5 p.m. and perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. Both events will be held in NSU’s Krikac Auditorium and are free and open to the public.

  • SPEARFISH, S.D. – Northern State University has received the go-ahead to offer new degree programs in criminal justice and art, building on related academic programs already offered at the Aberdeen campus.

    The new bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice at NSU replaces a specialization previously offered as part of the sociology major. Campus officials told the Board of Regents a full major in criminal justice better prepares students for careers in that field.   • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Balie Albrecht will hold a senior recital at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Art Center’s Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

    Albrecht, the daughter of Brent and Julie Albrecht of Rapid City, graduated from Stevens High School in 2014.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University students will host a Health Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on March 28 in the NSU Dacotah Hall Gym.  

    Put on by NSU students of the HLTH-320 Community Health Class, the Health Fair will feature nearly 30 booths including Aberdeen Hypnosis, Avera Sleep Lab, National Kidney Foundation of the Dakotas, Safe Harbor, Aberdeen Parks and Recreation, Aberdeen Curling Club, Aberdeen Running Club, Northern Counseling Center and many more.
