  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Two members of the Northern State University School of Business will present at the International Academy of Business and Economics.

    School of Business Dean Dr. Tim Mantz and Professor of Economics and Finance Dr. Keun Lee will present separately at the conference, which will be held in June in Munich.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University School of Fine Arts will launch the first annual Friends of the Arts/NSU Young Artist Competition on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019.

    The music performance competition will be open to juniors and seniors from high schools throughout South Dakota and surrounding states.

    Generous prizes will be offered for first, second and third place winners in four categories including piano, strings, voice and wind/percussion.

  • VERMILLION, S.D. – Northern State University will offer a new minor in Chinese on campus and online.

    The South Dakota Board of Regents approved the minor for NSU this week, as well as a minor in Russian studies for the University of South Dakota. Both are meant to help graduates navigate language and cultural understanding, according to a news release from the Board of Regents.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dr. Marla Fogderud is the recipient of the 2018 Nora Staael Evert Research Award at Northern State University.   

    The Nora Staael Evert Research Award, funded through a Northern State University Foundation grant, provides a summer stipend to support faculty engaged in scholarly research projects.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dr. Peter Ramey has received Northern State University’s 2017-18 Outstanding Faculty Award.

    Ramey, associate professor of English, was announced as this year’s winner during NSU’s spring commencement ceremony on Saturday.

    Ramey received several letters of nomination from faculty and students, including from NSU College of Arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Joshua Hagen. Hagen wrote that Ramey has “built and sustained an unequivocal record of excellence in teaching, research and service.”
