  • Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University Athletics and the Northern State Alumni Association released today the 2018 Hall of Fame class to be presented over the annual Gypsy Days festivities. The 103rd Gypsy Days is set to take place Sept. 24-29. The 2018 class includes Noelle (Hall) Bergan, Baron Blanchard, Melissa (Gamble) Haggins, Eric Longhenry, Dale McElhany, and the 1969 Wolves football team.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – For the second year in a row, Brown County Fair-goers will have a chance to win money to attend Northern State University.

    Northern is giving away $7,000 in scholarships for fall 2019. That’s seven $1,000 scholarships, or one for each day of the fair, which runs Aug. 13-19 at the Brown County Fairgrounds.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Dr. Lysbeth Benkert has published a book of poetry.

    The book, titled “#girl stuff,” is published by Dancing Girl Press. It contains poems that center around how women often define themselves or adapt their self-identities in positive–and sometimes not-so-positive—ways through their relationships: as mothers, daughters, wives or girlfriends.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University campus will be closed Friday, July 27, due to a scheduled power outage in order to facilitate the change to an underground power line. 

    Power will be shut off to all Northern facilities, and there will be no network connectivity on campus. All offices will be closed, and no classes or events will be held on campus that day.

    The South Dakota Board of Regents has confirmed Friday’s campus closure.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Organizers of Northern State University’s Culturefest are seeking entertainment and community groups to participate in the event this fall on the Northern campus.

    Culturefest, a celebration of cultures from around the nation and the world, will be held 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Barnett Center. Now in its eighth year, the event will include international food sampling, entertainment and of a variety of booths from cultural organizations.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Asher Wahl wasn’t sure what kind of duties to expect at his internship with Aberdeen Fire and Rescue.

    But his first day on the job, a call came in for a major vehicle accident – and his crew told him he was coming along.

    “I thought I was just going to sit in here and clean stuff,” joked Wahl, a junior at Northern State University.
