  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will host mental health awareness events aimed at reducing the stigma surrounding mental health challenges and improving campus mental wellness.

    NSU student Emily Meier received a grant through the Bush Foundation’s Change Network program, which led to the creation of Northern Mental Health Week, Nov. 14-20. Programming will take place throughout the week on campus, including:

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A fall plant sale will take place next week at the Northern State University greenhouse.

    A variety of succulents and spring-flowering bulbs (tulips, daffodils, etc.) will be available for sale in the greenhouse, located in Mewaldt-Jensen 144B. 

    Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, and 8 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Nov. 17. Cash or check only will be accepted. Proceeds will go toward scholarships and purchasing greenhouse supplies. The public is welcome.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Bands will present a concert, “Local Colors,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

    The event will include performances by the NSU Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Rolf Olson, and NSU Concert Band, conducted by Dr. Audrey Miller.

    Featured at the concert will be “Pink Ribbon” by Christopher Stanichar and “Hymn to a Blue Hour” by John Mackey.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University student Dylan Duvall will have his Senior Art Exhibition on display Nov. 29-Dec. 13 in the NSU Avera Student Center Art Gallery.

    Duvall will hold public receptions on Dec. 2 and 3 in the Student Center Art Gallery, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. both days. His exhibition will consist of a range of artwork, including video, posters and photography.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Theatre Lab will present "An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein" in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theater.

    Performances will run at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 20 as well as at 3 p.m. on Nov. 20.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University students Rosemary Vega and Eduardo Mendoza Reyes Ortiz will hold their Senior Recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center’s Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

    Vega, a soprano, will perform a set of Spanish contemporary pieces written by Argentinan composer, Irma Urteaga.
