  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will commemorate its 264 spring 2020 graduates on Saturday, May 9.

    Though the university will not hold a traditional graduation ceremony, Northern will post a short video to Facebook and Twitter at 10:30 a.m. CST, which will address commencement and confer degrees. Diplomas will be mailed out over the summer.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will resume on-campus operations, including face-to-face learning, for the fall 2020 semester, following the guidance of the South Dakota Board of Regents.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 virus, the 2020 summer theater season for Northern Fort Playhouse has been canceled.

    Though the cancellation wasn’t an easy decision, it was the right one, said Northern Fort Playhouse Board of Directors President Sandi Jaspers.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – With the recent events concerning COVID-19 and social distancing, professors all over the nation have been teaching their previously in-person classes exclusively online. With this sudden migration, however, some classes have proven more challenging to adapt to an online format than others. In particular, many professors who teach courses based in the arts have had to get especially creative.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Though they can’t come to campus right now, incoming Northern State University Wolves can still get a full orientation experience and register for fall classes online through the new NSU Virtual HOWL Day.

    The Virtual Howl Day is an extension of the traditional on-campus HOWL Freshman Registration Program. Through this online event, students will be able to participate in registration day activities remotely, including meeting with their advisor, learning academic expectations… more

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is helping the community and region in any way it can during this time – including by housing emergency medical professionals who are fighting the COVID-19 virus.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Undergraduate research is strong at Northern State University, with two students presenting at a Pierre poster session earlier this year and two more student projects awarded grant funding this spring.
