  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – As Northern State University prepares to kick off phase one of its Regional Sports Complex project, fundraising for the Educational Impact Campaign has moved beyond $50 million.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University College of Arts and Sciences is bringing the first in a potential series of academic speakers to campus this month.

    Dr. Alexander C. Diener, an associate professor of geography at the University of Kansas, will give three presentations on Oct. 24 and 25. They are:

    • NSU Soccer’s matchup versus Minnesota Duluth has been moved back to a 4 p.m. start Friday.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is altering Homecoming plans for Saturday due to anticipated inclement weather.

    The NSU Homecoming Parade will not take place as usual on Main Street. Instead, parade entrants are encouraged to line up their floats in the tailgate area of Swisher Field to be viewed and judged during the Wolves football game, which will be played as scheduled at 2:30 p.m.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The open house for Northern State University’s new Harvey C. Jewett IV Regional Science Education Center is now scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.

    The science center is located at the corner of Twelfth Avenue Southeast and South State Street. Self-led tours will be encouraged, with students and faculty stationed throughout the building to show off each feature.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University student Tabitha Schmidt will have her senior recital at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

    Schmidt, a percussionist, will perform “Suite for Timpani” by David Mancini, “Chakalaka” by Francisco Perez, “Prelude and Blues” by Ney Rosauro and “2+1” by Ivan Trevino.   • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Theatre Department will present the musical "The Brain from Planet X" in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theatre.

    Performances will run at 7:30 p.m. nightly Oct. 17-19, 25 and 26; at 3 p.m. Oct. 27; and include a special 11 p.m. showing for mature audiences on Oct. 26.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – This year, the Northern State University Homecoming Parade will be led by Aberdeen couple Joe and Cindy Senger.

    The Sengers will serve as parade marshals for the 104th annual Gypsy Day Parade, set for Saturday, Oct. 12. The parade, which has the theme of “Wolves Live Happily Ever After,” begins at 9 a.m. on Main Street.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The NSU Homecoming weekend will include a groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of the new Northern State University Regional Sports Complex.

    The ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, outside the south entrance of the Barnett Center. Numerous officials related to the project will speak, including NSU President Dr. Tim Downs, Athletic Director Josh Moon and Jim Thares of the South Dakota Board of Regents.
