  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Academic Advisor Rebeccah (Becca) Johnson has received the 2019 Distinguished Service Award from the South Dakota State University College of Nursing.

    Johnson was recognized at a ceremony for accelerated nursing graduates held on the NSU campus in December. She received the award for her efforts supporting the SDSU College of Nursing accelerated program, housed in Aberdeen, according to an SDSU news article.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The South Dakota Jazz Festival celebrates its 50th year on Thursday, Jan. 23, at Northern State University.

    The festival will feature No. 1 selling vocalist and trombonist Aubrey Logan, who will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the NSU JFAC Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Local business owners recently sat down in a conference room to hear fresh, new ideas for marketing their organizations.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – International pianist Dr. Pei-Lei Lin will visit Northern State University to work with students and present a public performance.

    Lin, assistant professor of piano at the University of Jinan in China, will perform a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in NSU’s Krikac Auditorium. The recital is free and open to the public.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University School of Fine Arts will hold two scholarship events this winter for high school students.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – This holiday season, Northern State University partnered with The Salvation Army through various volunteer and giving opportunities.

    Northern students, staff – and even NSU President Dr. Tim Downs – took shifts as Salvation Army bell-ringers at the Red Kettle placed outside the Barnett Center during the Dec. 6 and 7 Wolves basketball games.

    Also on campus, a mini-Red Kettle was set up at Northern’s Caribou Coffee/Einstein Bros., located on the lower level of the NSU Student Center.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Political Science Professor Dr. Jon Schaff has co-authored a book with former Northern colleague Dr. Anthony Wachs.

    The book, “Age of Anxiety: Meaning, Identity, and Politics in 21st-Century Film and Literature,” was released Sunday, Dec. 15, from Lexington Books.
