This graduate program combines exercise science and sport management coursework to provide comprehensive knowledge and experiences for graduates to be successful.

Our faculty are dedicated to helping students succeed in and out of the classroom. Students in this program are also often concurrently graduate assistants in NSU’s athletics programs. The unique experiences help many go on to work as high school or collegiate coaches.

Students must pass written and oral examinations before graduating.

The NSU counseling program leads to a master’s of science in education degree, preparing you for K-12 school or clinical mental health counseling certification/licensure. Our Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

In Northern’s entirely online Master of Science in Banking and Financial Services program, you’ll study the business of banking. You’ll learn how bankers best serve customers’ financial needs through business performance evaluations. You’ll also study the inner workings of banking and financial institutions, and the economic environment in which they operate.

As a sport marketing and administration bachelor's degree student at NSU, you’ll be involved with numerous hands-on learning experiences, in addition to a practicum and internship.

The special education bachelor's degree gives you the skills necessary to support students with diverse learning needs in a variety of settings as a special education teacher, and often is paired as a double major with NSU’s elementary education degree.

We provide hands-on, effective teacher preparation that includes extensive experience in actual secondary classrooms.

As a student in our B.S.Ed. Physical Education program, you’ll learn scientific and fitness principles, pedagogy (the method and practice of teaching), and curriculum development from our diverse and experienced faculty.

Coursework within the major falls into three categories:

• Physical education methodology
• General teacher preparation
• Exercise science

Physical education methodology courses train prospective teachers to promote physical literacy and are specific to the gymnasium.

As a human performance and fitness major, you’ll be part of a growing program that will help you build a strong sports science foundation through courses such as anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, and exercise physiology.
