  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., has released the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester.

    Students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average for the semester are eligible for the dean’s list. There are four categories:

    • Full-time students with a GPA of 4.0.
    • Full-time students with a GPA of 3.5-3.99.
    • Part-time students with a GPA of 4.0.
    • Part-time students with a GPA of 3.5-3.99.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The exhibition “Wallflowers” by the Aberdeen Area Quilt Guild, the Candlelight Quilt Guild and the Modern Quilt Guild will be on display in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery June 17 through August 9. The opening reception will be held 5-7 p.m. on June 24.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Darcy Usher recently received a Certificate of Recognition from the South Dakota Historical Society’s Board of Trustees for an exhibit she did on William H. Daly.

    Usher of Limon, Colo., is a senior studying for her bachelor degree in history with a public history minor.

    Usher’s exhibit focuses on Daly’s war years recorded in his personal diary before he returned to Northern to finish his degree after the war.… more

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Five Northern State University alumni and one Wolves Athletics team will be honored at the 2019 NSU Hall of Fame Banquet.

    The banquet is set for 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Aberdeen’s Dakota Event Center. This year’s inductees are Micah Arnold, Todd Ford, Matt Hammer, Carolin (Becker) Magstadt, Kira (Wannebo) Swenson and the 1993-94 women’s basketball team.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University alum Miranda Ristau recently received a $10,000 scholarship from the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee for her postgraduate studies.

    Ristau, of Warner, graduated from Northern in 2018 in Honoribus with a B.A. of Science in Biology with a psychology minor and participated as a student athlete on Northern’s Women’s Basketball team.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Study Abroad has seen a significant increase this year, with nearly triple the number of participants in its programs compared to last year.

    That success means all the hard work of staff, led by NSU Study Abroad and CEIB Advisor Dominika Blum, is paying off.

    Blum said oftentimes, students tend to think of all the reasons they can’t study abroad – cost, time, parental support. But she’s been raising awareness that it’s possible for all students.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University 2019 graduate and communication studies major Lexi Lockhart has recently been accepted into a yearlong internship with Disney, where she will be working in the park during the day and taking classes and seminars in the evening.

    Originally from Kent, Wash., Lockhart learned about the Disney College Program (DCP) when a DCP speaker visited during one of her early classes. She almost missed class that day but ended up going at the last minute.

  • Indianapolis – The NCAA released Tuesday morning the 2018-19 Helper Helper Report, which tracks community engagement for all member institutions. Northern State University athletics finished the academic year ranked 20th out of over 300 NCAA Division II members.

    Northern State student-athletes accounted for over 5,000 community service hours in the past year from 329 total student-athletes. The Wolves averaged 15.4 hours per participant that logged into the Helper Helper app.
