  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will cancel all on-campus classes that begin at 5 p.m. or later today (Wednesday, March 13).

    Williams Library will close at 7 p.m.

    The Huron Community Campus is also closed today due to weather. The NSU HIST 151 – United States History I class scheduled for today is canceled. Students are asked to please check D2L for assignments posted by Mr. Mittelstedt.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Dr. Jon Schaff will present a lecture on computing politics on Monday, March 18, at Dakota State University in Madison.

    Schaff, NSU professor of political science/department chair, will deliver the lecture in DSU’s East Hall 101. The event is free and open to the public.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. –NSU is working with Safe Harbor, United Way and Red Rooster to present “A Night of Art and Poetry,” an upcoming arts event in downtown Aberdeen to raise money. The event will once again collaborate Northern student poets with student designers to create works of art that will be sold to raise money for Safe Harbor.

  • Due to weather, National History Day at NSU has been postponed until March 20.

     

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – About 225 middle and high school students from South Dakota and North Dakota will be on the Northern State University campus on March 20 for the National History Day regional competition.

    Students will present research projects as part of the competition, which will run from 8 a.m. to noon in the NSU Student Center and Williams Library.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. –Northern State University jazz ensembles will offer an evening of “Sweet Jazz” at 7:30 p.m. March 14 in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center’s Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

    Ensembles performing on the concert include the 2 O’Clock Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Grant Manhart, NSU professor of music; and the NSU Jazz Combo 1 & 2, directed by Mr. Fritz Hemke, NSU assistant professor of music.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Williams Library’s South Dakota Germans from Russia Center will host author Rebecca Bender as she offers a reading of her new book, titled “Still,” March 12 at 7 p.m.

    “Still” is a nonfiction memoir/biography celebrating the Dakotas and the Russian and Romanian homesteaders who settled in the Dakotas in the early 1900s.

    “Still” will be released this month and is published by NDSU press.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University School of Fine Arts’ 2019 Annual Juried Student Exhibition will be on display in the NSU Student Center Gallery Feb. 22-March 14.

    This year’s exhibition features 24 pieces of art from 14 different NSU student artists.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A second $2.5 million state grant has been awarded for construction of the School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, part of the school’s joint Educational Impact Campaign with Northern State University.

    The grant, announced Wednesday by Gov. Kristi Noem, comes from the Governor's Office of Economic Development Future Fund.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Students working toward a management major in the Northern State University School of Business can now pursue an area of emphasis in supply chain analytics.

    The new area of emphasis, added this semester, was created in response to the needs of area employers. All 32 companies represented on Northern’s Business Advisory Board said they could use students with the skillset that will be gained through this area of emphasis, said Dr. Tim Mantz, Dean of the NSU School of Business.
