  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – NSU Symphonic Band will be holding their concert entitled “Band Extravaganza III – Band a la Mode” April 14, at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theater.

    The concert will feature the NSU Symphonic Band, conducted by NSU Professor of Music Dr. Rolf Olson, and NSU Concert Band, conducted by Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Audrey Miller.

    Students in Dr. Hannah Walters’ integrated marketing class are working on group projects this semester for the following businesses and organizations:

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Theater Department will present the musical "Fun Home" in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theater.

    Performances will run nightly April 9-13 and is recommended for ages 12 and up.

    “Fun Home,” one of the first musicals to feature a lesbian protagonist, was adapted by Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori from Alison Bechdel's 2006 graphic memoir of the same name. It was nominated for the 2014 Edward M. Kennedy Prize, nine Lucille Lortel Awards and won the 2015 Tony Award for Best Musical.… more

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The fifth annual Lamont-Rhodes Lecture will be held in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center on Tuesday, March 26.

    The event begins with a breakfast buffet at 7:30 a.m., with the presentation at 8:30 a.m. This year’s speaker is Anna Richards of Cornell University, who will deliver a talk on agricultural succession planning.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Thanks to community partnerships, this month’s job fair at Northern State University will be bigger and better than ever.

    NSU Career Services is partnering with the South Dakota Department of Labor and Dakota Media Group, parent company of the American News, to host the Aberdeen Area and NSU Employment Expo and Job Fair. The event will take place 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the NSU Barnett Center and is open to Northern students as well as community members.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Chamber Singers will celebrate the 334thbirthday of Johann Sebastian Bach with the eighth annual “Bach’s Lunch” on Wednesday, March 20.

    The concert will begin at noon at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Ave. S.E.

    Bach’s Lunch will feature the NSU Chamber Singers, under the direction of NSU Director of Choral Activities Dr. Timothy Woods.

  • ABERDEEN, SD- Northern State University will host the 66thannual Mathematics Contest at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, in the Barnett Center.

    Roughly 500 students from approximately 30 area schools are expected to participate, according to Dr. Stacy Trentham, NSU assistant professor of mathematics and contest director.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – A Sanford researcher whose work examines cell trafficking defects in kidney and brain diseases will speak at Northern State University next week.

    Dr. Indra Chandrasekar will be the keynote speaker at the 2019 NSU Research, Scholarship and Creativity Forum, set for Tuesday, March 19, in Northern’s Beulah Williams Library.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will hold the 36thannual Northern South Dakota Science and Mathematics Fair on Thursday, March 28.

    Approximately 60 judges from surrounding areas will be judging the projects of high school juniors and seniors from 20 surrounding schools in the area and interviewing these students.

    The students involved come from Brown, Campbell, Day, Edmunds, Faulk, Hyde, Marshall, McPherson, Roberts, Spink and Walworth counties.
