  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Professor of Theater and Theater Director, Daniel Yurgaitis received the Kennedy Center Gold Medallion award at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre’s (KCACTF) Festival 51 on Jan. 20, 2019.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Drs. Hannah Walters and Kristi Bockorny of the Northern State University School of Business have co-written a scholarly article that was recently published in the December 2018 issue of the e-Journal Business Education & Scholarship of Teaching (EJBEST).

    The article, titled “Relevance of General Education: An Assessment of Undergraduate Business Students,” was published in volume 12, number 3 of EJBEST.

  • Girls Who Code Club receives grant to buy Chromebooks

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – A group of middle school and high school students meets once a week at the Northern State University library to learn coding – and confidence.

    It’s the NSU Girls Who Code Club, where members are encouraged to explore new coding programs without fear.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Two-thirds of Northern State University graduates stay in South Dakota to work or further their education.

    That’s according to the South Dakota Board of Regents’ Graduate Placement Dashboard, which provides a comprehensive look at in-state graduate employment throughout the public university system over the last five years. The dashboard shows that 66 percent of Northern’s 2,206 graduates from the past five years chose to live and work in South Dakota.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Artist Alicia Dietz’s “Collective Cadence” exhibition will be on display in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery from Feb. 4 through March 29.

    An opening reception for the exhibition will be held in the JFAC Gallery from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 4.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University Theater will hold community auditions for three children’s roles in the upcoming production of “Fun Home.”

    Auditions will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center’s Black Box Theater on the NSU campus.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., has released the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester.

    Students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average for the semester are eligible for the dean’s list. There are four categories:

    • Full-time students with a GPA of 4.0.
    • Full-time students with a GPA of 3.5-3.99.
    • Part-time students with a GPA of 4.0.
    • Part-time students with a GPA of 3.5-3.99.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University students who completed a biennial survey on student engagement reported higher quality interactions with advisors and faculty than their peers at other South Dakota institutions who also participated in the survey.

    That’s according to 2018 results of the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Northern participates in NSSE, which collects information from first-year and senior students, every two years.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. –At Northern State University’s Friends of the Arts/NSU Young Artist Competition, 22 talented high school juniors and seniors from South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota performed for NSU faculty judging panels throughout the event on Saturday, Jan. 5.

    The event was held in Johnson Fine Arts Center, and offered awards with a total of $7,000 in cash prizes, including $1,000 for first-place winners of each category, $500 for second-place winners, and $250 for third-place winners.  Top music scholarships will also be available for those… more
